The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on its website under its flight schedule for all operators has a mention to SpiceJets Belgaum schedule.

The image shows the contents of the PDF file which contains the domestic Flight Schedule (WINTER SCHEDULE 2011-12 effective from 30th October 2011 to 24th March 2012)for this winter which has been updated on 30-10-2011.

Each operator in the country has to have a schedule ready by which it will run its operations and this is mandatory for each operator.

The schedule of Spice jet mentions about Belgaum flight by its new Bombardier Q400 aircraft which is a new turbo plane with 78 economy seating.

Spice jet earlier when it began its Q400 operations this year has stated that it will use these planes to connect to Belgaum and this blog was the first one to cover the same on Feb 1, 2011.

We have repeatedly tried to ask Spicejet about this but we got a standard reply, “as and when we add new routes you will be informed.”

Thanks Vithal Kamat

KingFisher Airlines which is going through a turmoil and a spree of cancellations of flights, starting November 20, 2011 the only flight to Mumbai from Belgaum has been canceled till 15 December 2011.

The same has been mentioned in their canceled flights list released today.

This was on expected lines as the traffic on this route was not much.

Flights from Kolhapur have also been canceled for the same duration.

But Flights would fly normally from Hubli.

Now the schedule says that flights have been canceled until 15 December, but sources said it may not be a possibility, and again Belgaum will off the aviation map.

<g:plusone size="standard" count="false" url="http://allaboutbelgaum.com/lifestyle/travel/kingfisher-will-keep-flying-from-belgaum/"></g:plusone>

After the announcement of Kingfisher chief Mr.Mallaya that they would be doing away with the KF Red, many said that the services from Belgaum will come to an halt in four months time. Many local dailies also said the same.

We on the same day mentioned the new time table to be effective from 30th October which meant that Kingfisher will be flying.

Kingfisher Airlines has now clarified the same to us on Twitter and also a detailed clarification was sent to us.

The clarification states, “ All ATR aircraft will continue to operate in a single configuration as a Kingfisher Class full service product. All advance reservations made by guests in the Kingfisher Red class of service will be fully honoured as the reconfiguration will take about 4 months to complete. Judging from actual past performance, higher yields and load factors and increase in overall revenue are expected.”

Kingfisher Airlines currently offers 3 classes of service-Kingfisher First, Kingfisher Class Economy and Kingfisher Red no frills economy.
On average, the load factors in Kingfisher First have been 50%. As such the capacity is being reduced on existing dual class Airbus aircraft and introduced on existing single class Airbus aircraft. Kingfisher will, therefore offer the Kingfisher First service on all its Airbus routes albiet with an overall reduction in capacity.

Over the past 6 months, Kingfisher Class (full service economy class of service) has generated higher yields and seat factors than the no frills Kingfisher Red class of service. Following re-configuration of all Airbus aircraft, the number of economy seats across the Airbus fleet will increase by approximately 10% and this capacity will be offered across the board as a Kingfisher Class full service product. Consequently, the Kingfisher Red no frills class of service will be phased out.

This means Belgaum will be on the aviation map even after four months. Happy flying !!

About the Trek: One of the best and all time favorite treks in this region of Kankumbi forests. In the beginning of the trek we cross the Kalsa Stream, reach the head of the Kalsa Waterfall & after a couple steep descends & ascends reach the base of the waterfall. We need to cross the river again which is now swollen more.

Hopping through the boulders in the river & thus negotiating our way, we reach the head of the 350 feet Sural Waterfall. Here onwards it is a steep ascend before reaching the village Sural in Goa. To & fro Motorable distance is about 120 kms.

Dinesh Trivedi, Union Railway Minister has agreed to consider the proposal to lay a high-speed corridor between Bangalore and Belgaum. The project if it materializes will reduce the travel time between the two cities, where currently the railways take about 12 hours. The project would be carried out on Public Private Partnership basis.

The railway minister is likely to discuss the issue with the State Government when he visits the city on September 20.

A survey would be done once the railway ministry agrees to undertake the project and asses the project viability. The project is most probably likely to be handed over to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).

This was told to the press by Karwar MP Ananth Kumar Hegde.

If this project materializes this will be a boon for people from North Karnataka. But as all is still in the approval stage it would take a long time to be implemented.

Also that the Belgaum – Dharwad line is also only on paper we suppose the hi speed corridor will be made using that line only which is still not clear.

Mr.Deshpande who frequently travels to Bangalore by train told this blog that, “ Train even if its 100 minutes late at Belgaum makes up time and reaches Bangalore on time. This means that even on the current route a lot of time can be saved. And if a hi speed corridor is made it would be easy for us to commute to the home town.’
