All the oil marketing companies have issued letters to the Petrol/Diesel retailers that beginning from Sept 1, it would their responsibility to collect and transport the fuel from the depot to their outlet. Until now the fuel used to be transported by the OMC’s to the door of the retailer.
The Belgaum District Petroleum Dealers’ Association have strongly opposed this unilateral decision and have decided not to buy anymore fuel from Sept 1.
Under the new system of delivery, the dealer will have to lift the fuel in tank trucks owned or arranged by him, thereby passing on the responsibility of safety, security, quality and quantity of the product upon the retail dealers.
If an amicable solution is not found in time citizens could face hardships. Apart from this the prices of Petrol might be increased by Re.1 from September 1.
