Green zone project launched by industrialists in Belgaum

With this idea in mind, the set of 16 responsive industries in Udyambag have come forward with the Novel Project of making the road in their area a GREEN ZONE (A road adjoining GIT college backside gate). The project which encompasses not only tree plantation but also factors in Waste Reduction and Management, Controlling Natural resource depletion, Clean surrounding, Beautification of the street, Safe walkway, Rain water harvesting, Use of solar energy etc.
Mrs. Priyanka Francis – Commissioner, Belgaum City Corporation inaugurated the project by planting a tree and garlanding the board. Mr. Satish Tendolkar – President Chamber of Commerce, Mr. A.S.Deshpande – Principal GIT College were also present as guests of honor.

Addressing the gathering Mrs. Priyanka Francis applauded the idea and ensured support from the City Corporation in executing the project, by timely and regular waste collection and disposal. She appreciated the proactiveness of the industries and wished that people should take forward such idea in other areas to make “Belgaum – A Clean and Green City”.

Mr. Satish Tendolkar in his address congratulated the industries and said he is happy and proud to note this development which is one of its kind in North Karnataka & appealed the Commissioner to help and encourage more industries by timely help from the City corporation.

Mr. A.S.Deshpande – said GIT is glad to be a part of this project & said he would take up the suggestions of the Commissioner to consider coming up with the Waste recycling project.

The participant industries are Expert Engineering, Diamond Metal Screens, SPP healthcare, Yashwant castings, Yashika Industries, AKP Foundries, Hydrostatic systems, Shri Yash Enterprises, Shri Ram Concrete products, Galaxy machinery, Daneshwari Engineering, GIT college, S.R.Enterprises, Padmamba Chemicals & Prism Enterprises.

Mrs. Priyanka Francis also handed over the dustbins to the residents of the slum as a part of the corporation project.

  1. Efforts Worth appreciable but I wish this movement sustains and bring more entrants , cleanness and beautified green city of Belgaum should be everyone’s dream
