On Friday a meeting was held at the Belgaum District Small Scale Industries Association where its Managing Committee Members, PWD Department represented by Shri. B. G. Dharenni, Asst. Executive Engineer and Shri. Suresh Angadi, MP with regards to the road widening from 3rd gate to Peeranwadi.belgaum

The PWD officials said that the estimated cost for the widening is Rs.30 crores and the state has already sanctioned Rs.10 Crores. It was decided that the road would be developed by 50-50% contribution from state and Central govt under the ASIDE scheme.

Another 5 crores are likely to be sanctioned in the next cabinet meeting. But the PWD officials said that unless the central govt releases fund tender cannot be called for.
Hence the tender for the same can only be called after the Centre sanctioned the Rs.15 crores and when that will happen is unknown.

Suresh Angadi, MP requested all the Members and industrialists and local citizens to co-operate. He also promised that if any delays occur for the sanction, he should be immediately told about it so that he can take further action.

What this actually means is that work on said road widening from 3rd gate to Peeranwadi will not begin anytime soon. It may be recalled that citizens had given a memorandum to the DC that the work on the said road must commence in a fortnight after a truck killed a school girl.
