The district administration is working overtime organizing and making arrangements for the Vishwa Kannada Sammelana 2011. The event is scheduled to be held in the city from March 11 for three days.
Here are some of the works order issued for repairs of roads:
Raichur -Bachi Road stretch of 4.04 kms at a sum of Rs.70 lakhs. ( this stretch includes road from Hotel Shankam to Harsha on club road)
Ashok Circle to Mahantesh nagar under pass – 1 km stretch at a cost of Rs.60 lakhs.
Re carpeting of road from Market police Station to Ashok Circle at the sum of Rs.40 lakhs.
Widening at Ashok circle near Durga Hotel – cost Rs. 30 lakhs
Organizers are facing difficulty in finding appropriate accommodation for all the guests that would come to the city during those days.
Administration has decided to provide lodging for them in school and college buildings. Special Executive Officer for the conference Vijaykumar Torgal asked the officials concerned to get information on the number of rooms, and toilet and drinking water facilities in schools and colleges in the city. He also asked them make all arrangements in these buildings by March 1.
