Farmers stage rasta roko

belagavi

The farmers of Mazgaon, Macche, Peeranwadi gathered at Mazgaon cross today and the blocked the road for 4 hours.

The farmers were protesting against the KIADB and BUDA who are trying to buy out their lands for a new industrial sector. The farmers have been offered nominal compensation for their land, the protesters were saying. Already notices of acquisition have been given to the farmers.

Bella Vista Belagavi

The KIADB and BUDA are eying about 3000 acres of cultivated land for acquisition for a new industrial area and BUDA layout.

Farmers say that, if they take our land how will we earn and live. May what happen but we will not give our cultivated land under any circumstances.

  1. I just don't understand these KIADB and BUDA ass-holes, just to make some difference in their career or impress higher officers they come up with such crap projects. These ass-holes should visit Udyam Bagh & Auto nagar sites and then come up with such non-sense projects. First of all, you should realize that you don't have proper resources to run the existing industries. How can you think of new industries. come on guys give me a break on, this is common sense just because you run government don't be some dumb ass, do you have any explanation for this. Most of the industries in Udyam Bagh are either running out of business or closed.

There is so much cut down in power supply, that you simply just can't run any industry. More over there is no water supply and proper road transportation. First they should try to save these industrial areas and then think of expanding in other areas.

Do you guys have any idea what you owe to the farmers. Ass-holes don't you realize that the food you n'joy sitting in A/C come from them. Farmers suffer a lot guys, don't kill someone for your own benefits entire family depends on farming. What are they going to get by your compensation. What if all of a sudden you get a notice saying that you are fired, how do u feel you ass-holes. Are you guys out of your mind to make such ridiculous decisions. Developing city just doesn't mean, industrial growth and development. Have you ever thought of making improvements of road transportation in villages, supplying power to fields and advancing in agriculture technology. Our country is already is so poor, every year we run out of food. I guess these guys are uneducated and there is no point in explaining all facts.

  3. I agree with all, BUT
these people (Politicians) will achieve at whatever cost TODAY or TOMORROW
Especially with the help of LAND SHARKS, Govt. officials n so on
As our city is going to become 2nd capital we r going to hear n read these things every day
And beware BANGALORE LAND SHARKS r on their way to BELGAUM.
In the distant future we will loose all those Fresh vegetables which grows around our city outskirts from our menu.

  4. i agree development shd be there , but not at the cost of this , absolutely not. farmers give us our daily food . we dont toil in the feilds its they who do it for us. industries ,industries every where what will v eat …???? plastic.and metal , garbage and what about the industrial waste that will be produced from this project, it will ruin the beautiful weather of belgaum. it will also pollute the rivers aroung bgm . has any one thought about it ??? and what about the poor farmers who will compensate for them ???
in our country the rich r getting richer and the poor poorer…….do we want more farmers commeting seucide???? hope some one is listning.

  5. The farmers are doing it right, i agree with them. As acquiring of land is concerned, i am sure the politicians
will have a big share without doing anything… For example consider the Common Wealth Games. whts our status, Officials have just ruined 70k thousand crores of commmon people,, with no improvement to anything.

  6. I am a belgaumite and would like to bring to the notice that almost many food grains mainly rice, wheat, and sugarcane are grown in the above mentioned areas, as they are very fertile, i know this because i work for a sugarcane factory in mumbai, which has a huge source of sugarcane supply from these areas, if government acquires these lands, belgaum is going to lose all its charm, and source of income. Why does the government think of the un cultivated land rather than the cultivated. And to Mahant, i agree that the nation should progress but at what cost, i have been to many foreign countries in my career, but none of them try to acquire cultivated lands for development. The future of our nation is in the hands of agriculture, which makes us somewhat independent from other countries.

  7. The farmers are doing the right thing why does KIADB and BUDA want the fertile land. If they want to build the industrial area then Belgaum has more than 30,000 acers Barren land near Buthramatti. They can Build a Big SEZ there permenantly if they wish but The only reason for the aquisition of the fertile land is that the politicians. They give order of Huge Landmass aqusition for their own selfishness and industrilists of belgaum are involved in it because they want to expand their business but dont want to change the area.

  8. @ Avinash and Srinivas

Even NH4A is also a National highway which easily connects to GOA and helps in import export activities, For up coming industries the Mazagaon, Macche, Piranawadi is the suitable area as the new companies can easily find vendors/suppliers in near be locality ,,,

Every where its cultivated land only, One need to sacrifice for growth of the nation. Else if KIADB and BUDA distributes the industries surrounding the city, all transport vehicles run around the town and one fine day we will blame again the same here in the same web page …

respect the judgment…. always there will be a well educated, expert and exposed to person to plan all this (more than a common man like u n me).

    • u dint have a very good reason Mr mahant. all the 900 Families which are gonna be landless what are they gonna do, have u ever thought of that. They are not even given the money if they sell their lands.

    • Well it is fact that the existing industrial areas around Belgaum are not fully occupied for eg like Kanbargi, Honga etc. Aquisition of fertile land should never be allowed for industrial purpose when there is lot of barren land available. In fact locating industries away from town facilates logistics from long term point of view.

Some people act as agents of Karnataka Govt & want to ruin the life of the common man / the common farmer. Need to vigrously oppose any moves of this kind.

  9. I agree with Avinash, what about the Kanbargi Industrial area, I think there are sites available yet. If not, this area can be extended and new plotssites along NH4 can be alloted. No need of acquiring agri land at MacchePiranwadi.

  10. This is disgraceful to hear that KIADB is acquiring farmer's land. I think KIADB should look for alternate places for industrial area such as area near Honaga, Halaga etc as these places are near to national highway and less productive from agricultural point of view too.
