Vegetable market in Belgaum gets a deserted look


2 PM – 
Stones pelted at various locations like Shahu nagar where glasses of a bakery were broken, similar incidents occurred in Sheri Galli, Mujawar Arcade Nehru Nagar areas.

The entire market in Maruti Galli, Raviwar peth, Ganpat galli, Khade Bazar, Kirloskar road, Ramdev galli all commercial establishments are shut.

The DC office compound was however an exception with huge number people gathering there for the nomination filling for the Graduates Western Assembly constituency.

City buses were not plying on the roads. While a few autos were on the roads they were demanding high fares.

In all the situation is under control and no major untoward incident was reported upto 2 pm. Police have taken a few people into custody who tired to pelt stones and disturb peace.  State transport buses are been not been allowed in to the city. Buses are dropping commuters on highways. Buses from Goa have been stopped at Peeranwadi.


11 AM- all commercial establishments are closed in the main market.
9.30 AM- market is not open almost all shops closed. City buses and autos off the road
8.30 AM – Most of the schools have declared a holiday.
7:45 AM- Traffic is below normal at this time of the day. shops hotels were closed early last night. Autos plying in less numbers.
Hindutva organisations  Sri Rame Sene, Shiv Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad have given a call for Belgaum bandh (Monday) June 2, 2014 to protest against the derogatory remarks on Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and former Shiv Sena chief late Bal Thackeray posted on the Social media.
