Below is the new Layout and some changes suggested by Mr.Satish Kumar for the present Belgaum Railway Station. You at first may feel who is this guy making a layout and what difference will it make. Belgaumites, go ahead of this thinking this is our city we need to build it as we want it. Lets give it a try, if this plan is at least seen by the railway authorities it our success.

The layout with details have been emailed to CM, Chief Secretary Karnataka, Belgaum DC regional commissioner and To Mr. Suresh Angadi MP Belgaum.

An alternate railway route to Bangalore was in the thinking from many a years as the present route via Londa takes more time. So one route was suggested via Kittur to Hubli. The Belgaum station in the past year has seen many changes and a few have been also highlighted on this blog.

Now to the plan made by Mr.Satish Kumar.

This is the present layout of the railway station.The Present layout have only 3 main lines for passenger rakes and 3 for Goods buffer and shunting , one new line was recently laid for goods shed where in past it was there for Meter gauge fuel tankers at the southern end.

Now the new one:

The new plan can have New station complex at southern end with more facilities and can become platform number 4.

The pit line for passenger raking facility can be build after the railway bridge towards the western side of the station since there is ample space available. Passenger raking is needed for coach cleaning recharging and water filling.

Karnataka railway map with proposed lines needed, the station at Sambra can be renamed as Belgaum junction and the main station as Belgaum city. The line towards Baglakot and Raichur can bifurcate from Sambra station. Belgaum city to Desur can have double line as the new Oil depot and Container freight station is already in operation and can bifurcate towards Dharwad.

Present Sambra station (during meter gauge era it had 12 shunting lines and there was line going towards Indal from here.The new proposal that government should consider ,Sambra ( Belgaum junction) with 5 shunting lines , integrated 6 line goods and truck terminal , it will create not only good revenue but also employment opportunity to villagers from Muchhandi and Ashte. Also a new fruit flower and vegetable market can be established here with direct rail transfer from here to Delhi Mumbai and Goa .

All are requested to give their feedback and based upon the feedback, if need be some changes will be made and the same will be forwarded to the concerned departments.

  1. Sir you are watching daily that Rani Chennamma train will.be full daily …no seats in general bogies and also.reservation will not be confirmed…..to avoid this traffic plz start the superfast express MIRAJ YPR spcl train …now there is a festival.season traffic will be more plz start the train

  2. Plz start the MIRAJ TO YESHWANTPUR spcl train ….Bcoz.Rani chennamma train will.be full.and no seats are available the train.will.be full no space to stand …this train will.be full.all the 12 months …so plz start tje miraj ypr spcl train it will.reduce the traffic of people …

    Over 70% of Belgaum Population Lives On The South Side Of The Station.
    The Good shed Can Be Sifted On The Out Skirts Of The City.
    This Will Be Very Convenient-Save Time, Fuel & Decongest Traffic
    Facilities That Sanjiv Talks Of Are Bound To Follow.
    Lets Do, All We Can To Make The Authorities Concerned Aware Of The Demand

Thankyou Sanjeev for your comments well as suggested by you yes all those fecilites mentiond by you should be made available , as your comment on fo line being of no use if doesnt pass through Sambra or Pant Balekundri , it will pass thrugh from these places because to avoide cost of cutting tunnel the only was is thrugh pass from Kardiguddi and Sutgatti, besides the main purpose of this line is port linkage and also connectine northen karnatak corridors especially Baglkot Gulbrga Raichur and Wadi, there are lot of trucks plying on this route the cemnt belt at Lokapur have all its offices at Belgaum it will also give Belgaum and Goa the Eastern India corridor through Vishakahpattanam and Howrah (Kolkotta) this is the main purpose of line feeder service to Sambra and Pant Nagar are not so effective infact I am from Balekundri so I know this topogrpahy exclusively.
    Anyeay your suggestion on feclites are wanted ones.
    The container depot is built near Desur and also house the Bulk Oil Depot.
    Well I must thank Uday fro composing it and making more presentable over the web.
    I believe we Belgaumites are people of latiral thinking we have a bit more than any others can have.

  7. I have gone through the link and found the following short comings:-
    1.The Railway line should pass through Pnat Balekundri,Sambra town (Belgaum Airport), Modga. The preasant Railway line is not much of use.
    2.The facilities in the new station complex from goodshed road is not fully mentioned.The least facilities required are
    – Tourist&city Information centre
    -Forigen exchange fcility
    -ATM
    -Cyber cafe.
    -A Posh resturent.
    -Novelty cum necessity stores.
    -ANy other facility decided
    3.There is no mention of container depot.
    4.There is no mention of Arboriculture ,Fountains & land scaping.

  8. Hi udu dada! I think this is a step towards the right direction. As citizens we should first try to do something rather than just complain why others are not doing it! & Mr.Satish Kumar has gone ahead & taken his first step. Its our duty to now support & encourage. Nice to see such initiatives on ur blog!. Way to go.

  11. cum on man u r still planing for railyway station (remember your fav topic save nature at vaccine depot) don’t you think to have a railway station with this kind of grand plan we need to cut trees and replace all the peoples staying near the railway line to make way for trains. also for this kind of plan to become real it will be vision 2020 for BGM
