Civilians cant play at army golf course anymore

Golf Lovers of Belagavi are in for a letdown as the Army Golf Course has prohibited civilians from playing on the ground, following instructions of army headquarters.A letter has been issued by the Quartermaster General’s Branch in Army Headquarters on June 23 and sent to all Command Headquarters across the country. A presentation was made to the Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Philip Campose, by the Quartermaster General’s Branch on Army golf courses in April this year following which this letter was issued.

The Army golf courses came under the scrutiny of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament in 2013 when passed adverse comments on utilisation of defence lands for playing golf.

The golf course in Belagavi is spread on 113.95 acres of land.

  1. Few years back also ban was imposed. Later it was relaxed for IAS, IPS officers. Now I think we have lot of young golf players in Belgaum coming up.
