City to get PNG CNG soon under Smart city, MEIL (Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd.) Has been awarded the contract for the development of the City Gas Distribution network in the Geographical area of Belagavi District. The inauguration of the same was done June 25, 2016 as a part of the smart city project, but now the MEIL has not been able to start the work in its first stage of 4 kms in the city as the city corporation has demanded Rs.1200 per km as digging charges.
So the company has to first deposit Rs.48 lakhs with the corporation to begin the digging. This could adversely affect the project.
It may be noted that HESCOM is also laying UG cables but the corporation has not taken any money from HESCOM as digging charges sources said.

The company will be responsible to laying and distributing Natural Gas for use by households and all other category of customers.

It will take 5 years for the completion of this project which involves laying of 1800 kms of pipeline.

The contract was awarded to MEIL on September 14, 2015.

The entire area included for the project is 13399 Sq kms in Belagavi district.

The main core focus will be PNG home customers

  1. CCB is huddle in all kind of development. They don’t improve the city, no good roads, street lights, water supply etc., every basic requirement is not fulfilled by these guys and if some one wants to make a change they stop them.
