The Gogte institute of technology, Belagavi has come up with new guidelines after an interaction with students, parents, teachers, staff and. the Student’s Council of Alumni Association and a new set of guidelines would be effected for all students and staff.GIT

No entry to the two wheelers inside the campus if driver not wearing the helmet and without license. (With effect from 1st May 2015).
Car drivers must wear belts for seeking entry to the campus.
All the vehicles must affix the parking sticker issued by the college against the submission of copy of RC book, license and an undertaking to their respective departments.
All must attend the awareness / orientation program being arranged with the help of traffic safety experts.
No staying in college campus till late hours ( for students) unless there is official approval. Exit time would be 615 pm the time when last bus departs from the campus.

Prof. A S Deshpande, Principal of GIT, made it clear that the above rules would be implemented strictly and it is for the betterment of the students and society at large. He further said the college is open to hear more suggestions which could also be implemented in the future.

This is a welcome step by the college and if each college takes up such initiatives it would be a welcome sign. We have seen school going kids driving two wheelers, a age at which they cant even get a Driving license, so it is the responsibility of the parents to look into the matter and they must not encourage such acts.

  1. A good initiative. Self discipline must be inculcated amongst all to save precious lives. Why only inside the college it should be followed on the road. The zooooming bykes now a days gives a shock to persons driving normally.
A traffic discipline by individual can only help.

  2. Why not have students stay back late? its an academic institution and students should be encouraged to stay back and study in the library, labs, gyms etc. These should be open till late for the benefit of students and not close at 6pm etc.

  3. Its a very good intitative. “COPRORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY” at its best. This is an outstanding example for other institutions/organizations to follow and benefit the society at large.
