After the announcement that an IIT would be established in Karnataka, speculation is at its peak and each one is trying to say it should be in their area.IIT

Belagavi MP Suresh Angadi has urged the state government to put pressure on the Centre to establish an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Belagavi.

Angadi is a press statement said that former BJP MLA Abhay Patil had submitted a memorandum signed by 120 legislators to the then CM Sadananda Gowda on establishing the IIT.

Belagavi, though considered the second capital of the state, has not developed as expected. Except for Suvarna Vidhan Soudha no other major development has taken place. The IIT must be established here for educational development of this backward region,” he said.

The availability of a large parcel of land could be one of the prime factors determining the location of the IIT in Karnataka; the requirement could be in the order of 500 acres.

  3. I totally agree with Mr. Nandakishor’s First sentence “THEY NEED BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE ,BETTER CONNECTIVITY”:,,,,,but just wait, before jumping into IIT a question for all : are we all satisfied at the present Infrastructure of our Belgaum City??? just have a ride thru the city & see practically the situation.
Also just look at Mr.Angadis Statement: “Belagavi, though considered the second capital of the state, has not developed as expected”,,,just tell me how many times Mr.Angadi has become MP from Belgaum,,what has he done / what are his achievements during his period,,till today why is he not successful in making our Belgaum a developed city with all the infrastructure well in place ???

    • I think you are right. Abhay patil and angadi at one end support belgaum to be part of maharastra and other end they want IIT to be in Belgaum. THE INTENTIONS are clear if the IIT goes to Belgaum then one day they again go to central govt with maharashtra mlas for merging belgaum to maharastra. And again karnataka would be loosing a prestigious IIT. So dont give IIT to Belgaum at any cost. Let it be in Bangalore as it is the silicon valley of india. Hi everyone, please try to understand these mla’s intentions and have a eye on these mla’s.

  5. Mr.Angadi and Mr.Abhay Patil you should be ashamed to call Belagavi as backward city and no development has taken place. Mr.Angadi has been MP for more than 10 years now you could have done whatever you want to develop and Mr.Abhay Patil got 5 years to develop and I did not see even a single foot path being constructed and now they are demanding for IIT. Mr. Angadi must have thought it’s as simple as having Angadi Institute of Management
