The sole livelihood of the farmers of this area is only farming and if the land they cultivate is acquired how will we survive was the question asked by the farmers here.
DC N Jayram has issued a NOC on June 5, 2014 for the acquisition of 365 acres and 11 guntas of land in the village limits of Belgaum, Savgaon and Mandoli for the purpose of Riffle firing range of the Indian Defence department.
Already 184 acres have been acquired by the Army and a wall has been built around it in Mandoli. The Govt has already alloted land for firing range to the army in Ramdurg and Marihal, but the army has been unable to utilize the same.

Today the farmers protested in large numbers at the DC office and reiterated that under no circumstances they would allow their fertile land to be acquired.
