Harshita role model for flower cultivation
The National Horticulture Mission (NHM) supports a wide range of horticultural activities. Ms. Harshita Desai of Uchgaon, Belgaum District, is cultivating Gerbera flowers in green houses and selling the flowers directly in Bangalore market.
She has become successful farmer-entrepreneurs and role-models in their neighbourhoods by adopting new technologies with NHM assistance.
In 2006 Belgaum was brought under the Union Government-sponsored National Horticulture Mission. The mission aims at the comprehensive development of the horticulture sector and help farmers to improve their income.
Nice to know that capital city is getting flowers from second capital ! I think belgaum can emerge as a horticultural hub in future !!
