The picturesque fort lake in Belagavi has become more attractive with the new addition of a fully operational Laser Tech Park-Floating Musical Fountain. The total cost of the unit is around Rs.1.67 crore and was made open to the public on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.
But this musical fountain is becoming a white elephant for the Belagavi city Corporation as it has to pay Rs.50,000 monthly to HESCOM as electricity charges. The musical fountain is open on Saturday and Sunday only. Hence in a month the musical fountain and laser show is operational for a maximum of 8-10 days (Only Saturday and Sunday 7 PM to 8 PM).
For those 10 days the City corporation has to shell fifty thousand monthly. The works were undertaken from funds available under the Chief Minister’s Special Fund and the shortage was paid by the City corporation and the total cost of the unit was around Rs.1.67 crore.
