No proposal to split Belagavi District

Speaking to press persons on Republic day, district incharge minister Satish Jarkhiholi said that there is no proposal to split the Belagavi district. And if in future the need arises then it would be split into 3, Belagavi, Chikkodi and Gokak.

  1. Splitting Belgaum district would cause more harm than good.
    The city might not qualify for schemes JnNurm or similar ones.
    I guess Belgaum may not qualify for project financing by institutions like World Bank etc
    For developmental reasons the Belgaum district should remain united.
