The present education system consists of primary, secondary and tertiary education, the tertiary education is acknowledged as higher education. The quality of education imparted at centers of higher learning desires to be of very high standard and has to be competitive and at par with international standards stated Padmashri. Dr. Sanjay G Dhande, Member of University Grants Commission and Former Director of IIT, Kanpur. He was speaking as a chief guest to medical scientists, academia, educationist, health sciences graduates and their parents on the occasion of the 6th convocation of KLE University, Belagavi at KLE Centenary Convention Centre. He added, higher education offers lifelong dividends in terms of economic upward mobility, social recognition, family stability and individual satisfaction for serving the society that we live in. The present spectrum of higher education is knowledge driven, accumulation of knowledge, generation of more thoughts, improvements in the existing system is need of the hour and academicians, institutes acts a spring boards for creation of knowledge opined Dr. Dhande. He called for accountability, transparency in administrative, financial as well as academic process; the academic decisions should be open for review, debatable and defendble stressed Dr. Dhande. The thrust areas of the research must be based on the needs of the local community and the fruits of the academic research must benefit the society as the education institutions are integral part of the society.
He paid glowing accolade to the KLE Society management at large and to the Chancellor of KLE University Dr. Prabhakar Kore in particular for creating world class infrastructure for teaching-learning. The top quality human resources, world class infrastructure, state-of-the art laboratories, digital library, pedagogy, skills labs, lush green campus, play courts, student friendly initiatives and student discipline at KLE University are standing testimony of the enormous hard work placed by KLE management and team of academicians is imminent in the campus. He called on the young graduates to remain abreast with knowledge products such as technical papers, books, monographs, patents, research for betterment of the society.
Prof. C.K.Kokate, Hon. Vice-Chancellor presented the Brief Report of the KLE University highlighting the unique achievements and important activities. In his presentation, he highlighted that as many s 2,700 research papers have been published by the faculty members in international and national journals. The University has entered into agreements with international institutions like WHO, NIH, Clinton Foundation, etc. The KLE University’s J.N.Medical College, Belagavi has been recognized as Global Site for Women’s and Children’s Health Research.
1352 students qualified for the award of respective degrees which included 19 Ph.D, 10 in Post Doctoral courses, 334 in Post Graduate courses, 817 in Under Graduate programs, 20 in Diploma courses, 62 in P G Diploma Courses, 03 in Fellowship programs and 87 in Certificate courses. 41 students bagged gold medals for their outstanding achievement in various courses.
Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chancellor KLE University presided over the function. Prof. Dr. Chandrakant Kokate, Vice Chancellor of KLE University welcomed, introduced the Chief Guest and presented the achievements of the university since its inception in 2006. Dr. V D Patil, Registrar and members of the Board of Management of the University were present on the dais. The convocation began with colourful procession with ceremonial band, lead by controller of examinations, member of the Board of Management and the Academic Council, Chancellor, Chief Guest and the Vice Chancellor.
