To give more impetus to the Information Technology business in the city the District administration is planning a special IT investors meet at the central hall of the Suvarna soudha in the first week of June.
The DC in a meeting emphasized the need for getting IT sector into Belagavi and hence he has planned this special meet to attract small and medium IT professionals. Land need upto 108 acres and project cost of upto 10 crores will be disbursed at the District level only.
There is a unutilised IT park at Desur where there is no OFC available and hence of very little utility for IT professionals.
What Belagavi needs is not big IT companies to begin with but smaller and medium IT and IT enabled serves (IteS) companies which dont need much land but can kick start operations in a short time even from a 10,000 square feet property.
What the administration must do is give the IT professionals a ready to use building with ready infrastructure needed for IT such as INTERNET connectivity and begin the show.
Belagavi has a lot of potential and it already has IT associations for both hardware and software which work in their own fields. They must be taken into consideration for such events and plans must be made.
Setting up a manufacturing plant is far different from starting a IT company or ITES company, hence the administration must ask the local entrepreneurs about what they want and how other people can be called into start business here.
