More Talukas in Belagavi district

V Srinivas Prasad, Revenue Minister on Thursday said, the Belagavi district, the largest district in the State, will be bifurcated and more taluks will be created to take the administration to the doorsteps of the people.

Bifurcation of the district could be announced during the budget session of the legislature in Bengaluru. Chikkodi or Gokak district would be carved out of the present Belagavi district. Now, the district comprised 10 taluks. Currently there are three revenue sub-divisions and six police sub-divisions. Apart from the Belagavi City Corporation, there are 17 municipalities, 20 towns and 485 gram panchayats. The district is also the headquarters of the Belagavi Revenue Division.

  1. Instead of two it shall be divided in 3 parts. let Gokak & Chikkodi be the independent districts for better administration facilities to the villagers around these towns.

  2. What ever you want to do please do it fast for the betterment of people and better governance and to ease people with their problems and difficulties. First Chikodi should be made a district as there are many district level office are already setup with this intention of making it a district from long time. THen if wanted may be they can also think of Gokak later.

  4. Nipani is a most important place and city in a belgaum district and more bigger than chikkodi so we hope grant permision for district lavel because Nipani is growing faster

  5. Gokak should be made a district first. Because Gokak city is more than 4 times of Chikkodi and the biggest business centre after Belgaum city. Gokak taluka has the highest population also. So Gokak should be made a district.
