Ganesh Mane (26), a native of Belagavi working with Software company Bengaluru drowned in Nayakanakere near Devarayanadurga forest on the outskirts of Tumakuru city on Sunday along with colleague Keshav Sharma (27).

Ganesh Mane had studied in Sant Meera English Medium school and completed his bachelors degree from Jain College of Business Administration.

According to the police, five engineers working with HP and Dell in Bengaluru had come to the Devarayanadurga forest to see the sunrise. Those from Dell were Jeetendra, Karthikeyan and Arun Kumar.

They left Bengaluru in a car around 4 a.m. and arrived at Devarayanadurga at 5.30 a.m. Four of the five had a few drinks and went swimming in Nayakanakere. None of them knew how to swim. Two of them came back but the other two went further into the tank, which was deep and filled with silt.

When they shouted for help, Jeetendra and Karthikeyan woke up Arun Kumar, who was sleeping in the car. But as they did not know how to swim, they ran to the road nearby to get help, but in vain. They rushed to Urdigere to get help from the police, but by the time they came back, the duo had drowned.
