Belgaum Sports Club prevail in Eliminator match of BCL

Varadraj Potdar Vijaya squandered the advantage and lost the match against Belgaum Sports Club as youngster Swapnil Yelwe ran havoc in the middle order and Belgaum Sports won the Eliminator match by 17 runs and booked the spot for the second Qualifier. Belgaum Sports Club will lock horns with Gold Museum Union Gymkhana in the second Qualifier tomorrow.

Batting first after winning the toss Belgaum Sports posted 147 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 25 overs. Rohan Kadam top scored with 67 runs with 6 fours, Ganesh Kangralkar chipped in with 52 runs with 6 fours and one six, Nizamuddin Londewale scored 15 runs. Rohan Kadam and Ganesh Kangralkar were involved in a partnership of 102 runs for the second wicket. For Varadraj Potdar Vijaya Milind Chavan picked up 2 and Toufiq Inamdar picked up one wicket.

In reply Varadraj Potdar Vijaya were on course of victory as they were sitting pretty on 104 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and they needed only 44 runs in 42 deliveries. But disaster struck and Varadraj Potdar Vijaya lost their remaining 7 wickets in just 26 runs and lost the match by 17 runs. Swapnil Yelwe was the star with the ball as he picked up 4 wickets for 25 runs, Gourav Thorat picked up 3, Noel D’Mello piocked up 2 and Tejas Pawar picked up one wicket. For Varadraj Potdar Vijaya Nilesh Patil scored 36 runs, Rahul Naik 24, Wasim Dhamnekar 20 and Rohit Desai scored 12 runs.

Swapnil Yelwe was declared the Man of the Match.
