This could be the best for North Karnataka as huge amount of investors have been asked to pen shop here.

The State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) presided by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday cleared the investment in many areas. They are as Follows:

belagavi
  • GAIL will lay 746-kms of gas pipeline from Dhabol to Belgaum and Bangalore at a cost of Rs. 4,544 crore.
    • Zuari Fertilisers and Chemicals will set up a urea plant with a capacity of 11.55 million tonnes per annum in Belgaum at a cost of Rs. 4,565 crore.
    • Surya Vijayanagar Steels and Power Ltd will set up an integrated steel plant at a cost of Rs. 20,000 crore in Bagaklot.
    • Arcelor Mittal will invest Rs 50,000 crore to set up a six million-tonne mega steel plant in North Karnataka. The company was offered eight places in North Karnataka, of which two have been short-listed. The company has asked for 4,000 acres for the project. The plant is expected to generate employment for at least 20,000 people. The Rs 30,000 crore phase-I will also include a 750MW thermal power.

This is good news for Belgaumites as most of these industries will give employment to locals here and after these industries set shop here there will be overall development.

As long as Belgaum people do not ask for what they deserve and make local MP's and MLA's accountable this area will be unde developed. Why only Bangalore or Mysore gets all big projects and developments ..do we need a north karnataka state ?

The north interior karnataka is really lagging behind the Belgaum-Davangere belt. Ya… The steel plant should come up somewhere near Bagalkot, which would boost the development there….

I am really happy about the steel plant at Bagalkot , I have seen the suffering of dispalced people from Almatti Dam the employment genration would really boost the livlihood of these displaced people , I wish these steel plant come forward under their CSR ( Corporate Social responsiblity ) to rehabilitate these people with support from local NGO's at a faster pace

      Hi Satish,
I guess there's no plan of Arcelor in Bgm.
Only Dharwad, bagalkot, bijapur n Koppal were shortlisted i guess. But sure that Bgm is not gonna get Arcelor 🙁

        Hi Satish/Shri

I am confident that Belgaum would not get any of the above mentioned companies because of our sleepy politicians/media/Public. All projects will smoothly move to either to Hubli or to Gulbarga.

If we can have the Quest then why not Arcelor which falls in same domain…. 🙂

Also I don't see any comments from Belgaum Entrepreneurs for Belgaum's development (Articles published for Belgaum's Developmental work and game played by politicians). I personally feel if they join hands with us and contributed their valuable suggestions then I think govt can take some actions.

        For eg: Infosys

Atleast the Zuari project is going on sure, since Belgaum is going to be the distrubition terminal for ONGC and Relaince bulk gas transfer station, besides I found lot of polymers and chemical based small industries have come up in Belgaum in recent past, Renuka sugar is having hughe ethnol production the in future manufactureres producing perfumes, industrial spirits and santary wipes ,antiseptic disinfectors are some by products based industries to come up in near future at Belgaum, Let it grow let it grow let it grow 🙂
