Photo of author

Hyderabad-based Sukuki Exnora a NGO which awards civic authorities for its work awarded Belgaum City Corporation (BCC) with the Green Leaf Award-2011 in the area of Garbage disposal.

The corporation has a solid waste management unit at Turmuri village where about 180 tonnes of garbage is disposed everyday.

The unit is run by Ramky Enviro Engineers.

The Belgaum landfill site at Turmuri has been facing a big issue as people there are complaining about pollution. In December 2010 the BCC had decided to shift the garbage depot from here to a different place.

  2. intresting NGO is hydrabad based and so is Ramky Enviro Engineers checked the contact us page on website of Ramky Enviro Engineers. It would have been nice if the unit was run by belgaum based company. also I dont see why award has to be given to city corporation it is their duty to ensure proper disposal of waste we pay tax to them for that. when rainy season start check ganpat galli , city market all the drainage water will overflow on road.
yet I love my city belgaum its far better place to live and enjoy weather
