  2. Instead of Govt sheding crocodile tears, Why dont they realize the mantra is of co-existance so what matters if we can adopt English, and not Marathi in official use in border areas mainly in Belgaum, after all the grose mentality of our politicians can be over thrown ,We individual Belgaumites should all know this since have very common faces and frineds be it any one Marathi or Kannada , Why division of saffron flag and Haldi Kumkum color flag both represent our mixed culture and borne on forehead…

    • Well nice that the day is being celebrated in Karnataka. In fact the whole India should celebrate this day. How he died is not important but try to know how he ruled. In a recent survey around the world Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was judged to be the best ruler in history. The kind of administration he had, his ethics, his honesty, his impartiality, being human & patriotic, standing by his words. He just returned a beautiful Muslim lady back to her house with full respect saying that she too is someones daughter.

  3. I heartly welcome decision taken by govt of karnataka. But, some people play dirty politics in the name of Shri Chhatrapati shivaji maharaj. He does not belongs to only maharastra or maratha people but he belongs to whole india. His birthday should be celebrated all over india. Even central govt must declare holiday on eve of shivaji .

  5. Yes, definately it is a good move but not a perfect move because Karnataka Govt decided due to keeping eye on vote bank of Marathi speaking peoples in border areas.. and not due to the respect to Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As They should not forgot that Shahaji Raje ruled the Bangalore and Karnataka.. and Chatrapati Shivaji’s earlier childhood days spent in Bangalore where he learnt a lot about our country. So Karnataka peoples must celebrate Shiv Jayanti.. I really wonder, that they are celebrating Tipus birth and not Chatrapati Shivajis birth which shows the mentality of some politicians and some peoples of the state. Myself spend solid 9 yrs in Bangalore but I hardly seen any peoples who doesnot like Chatrapati Shivaji.. as he always worked for our country and not to particular community or state..or religion.. Jay Shivaraya..
