20 startups pitch at Startup Conclave 2023 Belagavi

Vigyan Manthan Foundation Belagavi conceived and planned Startup Conclave 2023, which was successfully conducted on the 16th of January, National Startup Day 2023. The event was filled with learning and fun, featuring Mentoring Sessions, Panel Discussions, a Startup Pitch Contest, an Ideathon, and hands-on workshops.

For the Pitch Contest, 20 startups applied and 3 emerged as winners, each receiving a cash prize. Additionally, 44 students applied for the Ideathon 2023 with innovative ideas, and 25 finalists were shortlisted, with 5 of them being selected as winners.

The three startups who won the pitch contest are from the North Karnataka region. Balaloka Technologies, working in Smart Logistics for School Kids, Mysmart Shaala working on paperless documentation for Teachers and Students and Dumpbox Food Industry working on Chatapata branded Ready to cook Masala Mixes.

The event was inaugurated by esteemed guests, including Chief Guest Mr. Sachin Sabnis (Karnataka State President, Laghu Udyog Bharati), Guest of Honour Mr. Venkatesh Patil (CEO of Belgaum Oxygen and an Angel Investor), and Dr. Prakash Mugali, Founder and CEO of Enerzi Group. Mrs. Chetana Sarang, Founder and CEO of Dattamsh Edtech LLP, welcomed the dignitaries and officially kicked off the event.

At the event, Mr. Sachin Sabnis highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to bolster the startup ecosystem, particularly in second-tier cities.

Mr. Venkatesh Patil then discussed the importance of such events in the city and the role they play.

Dr. Prakash Mugali, the Founder of Vigyan Manthan Foundation, provided an overview of the organization’s vision for Belagavi’s startup ecosystem.

Dr. Aravind Chinchure, the CEO of Deshpande Startups, gave a new perspective on modern-day entrepreneurship, which was an eye-opening experience.

A highly productive panel discussion was held for startups to interactively understand the expectations of investors. The panel included Mr. Ravindra Krishnappa, Managing Partner at July Ventures, and Mr. Rajiv Prakash, Founder of NextIn, a founder coaching organization.

Mr. Naveen Lakkur, Founder of the Institute of Inspiring Innovation, had an informative session on innovation and execution as inseparable twins. Mr. Ajit Patil, a renowned entrepreneur from Belagavi, shared his journey as a startup founder and the challenges he faced in the early stages.

The panel discussion for new and existing investors to learn how to evaluate startups was equally engaging. The panel included Mr. Ravindra Krishnappa, Mr. Rajiv Prakash, Mr. Venkatesh Patil, and Mr. Anand Kadakol, an investor and author. The panel was moderated by Dr. Prakash Mugali.

Mrs. Rekha Mugali, co-founder and CEO of Quickast Makers Space Pvt. Ltd. and a co-founder of Vigyan Manthan Foundation awarded the Ideathon winners and finalists encouraging them the active participation.

Mrs. Tabassum Dafedar, co-founder of Dumpbox Food Industry Pvt. Ltd. held the whole show through her dynamic anchoring and made the event an enjoyable experience for the audience.

The first-of-its-kind event in Belagavi proved to be successful in its maiden version itself.
