Approximately 100 acres of land is required to upgrade the Belagavi Sambra airport to international standards. District in-charge minister Govind Karajol instructed that the authorities should prepare a proposal in this regard and the govt will provide the land needed.
The minister spoke while presiding over the progress review meeting on various development projects including the airport and railway projects of the district held on Tuesday (August 16).
He directed Officers to take appropriate action to block the surrounding land necessary for the upgradation of the airport. He said that this will help in getting the land required for upgrading the airport in the coming days.
Rajesh Kumar Maurya, Director of Belagavi Airport, said that a proposal should be submitted by the state government to make it into an international airport.
Demand for the same will be sent to the Civil Aviation Authority based on the proposal, he said.
