The Dutch Design Week 22 opened on 22nd Oct 2022 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The project, Bio-based pavilion was designed by professional doctorate candidate, Ar. Snehal Hannurkar that is among the 23 projects which are a part of TU/e “Drivers of change” presented at the Dutch Design week 2022.
The project focuses on principles of circularity (Reduce, reuse and recycle) and on the use and research of Biobased materials (in particular the use of Flax). It is designed for disassembly and is transportable.
The design concept model of the Biobased pavilion along with a life-size model of one of its structural components built using biobased composite profiles is displayed at the DDW. The profiles are manufactured by the company Milvision.
Ar. Snehal is an alumnus of KLSGIT Belagavi and Bauhaus, Germany. She completed her second master’s in architecture, Building, and Planning from the Technical University of Eindhoven and is currently a doctoral candidate researching the use of biobased materials in construction under the mentorship of Dr. Faas Moonen and Ar. Tom Veeger.
Snehal has co-founded the architectural firm Studio13 architecture and urban design, Goa along with Ar. Pushkaraj Karakat and is a partner at the firm. The duo has successfully implemented many prestigious residential, institutional and commercial projects in Goa, Belagavi, Hyderabad, Delhi, Davangere, and other parts of Southwest India.
She is the daughter of well-known advocate Late Shri Kisanrao Hannurkar, author, and retired headmistress Smt Surkeha Hannurkar from Belagavi.
