The ICMR lab at NITM Belagavi which is currently handling 360 samples a day is gearing up to handle upto 1000 samples a day.
Another lab for Swab testing for COVID-19 is planned at the BIMS that can test 200 samples a day.
The sample testing in the past week has been considerably reduced as per the new testing SOP.
But the health department is gearing up to increase the capacity of testing in Belagavi as well.
There were times when all the samples were sent to Bengaluru or Shivamogga and used to take 3-6 days for the results to arrive.
Now with Belagavi lab it self testing 360 samples a day the reports hopefully will come early.
