Belagavi airport is lucky to have TWO FTO – Flying Training Organizations sanctioned but both are yet to be operationalized.
M/S Samvardhane Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru, and the other to M/S Red Bird Flying Training Institute, Delhi are the TWO FTOs that will operate from Belagavi.
In a reply to a question in the Loksabha, it was mentioned that –
In 2021, after a competitive bidding process, AAI awarded nine FTO slots at 5 airports at Belagavi (2), Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Kalaburagi, Khajuraho & Lilabari As on 30th June 2022, 4 of these FTOs are operational: one each at Jalgaon and Lilabari and two at Kalaburagi.
So except for Belagavi, all the other 4 have begun their operations.
The Belagavi FTO was slated to operationalize in June but there has been some delay in the same.
The Link Taxi Track completed by AAI has been completed & Markings will be completed.
The establishment of the Flying Training Organizations (FTOs) will be on Design, Build, Operate, Maintain and Transfer Basis (DBOMT).
