In this age of internet the government websites which are supposed to have authentic information and visitors always rely on them are always not correct and trust worthy.
Have a look at the official District website http://belgaum.nic.in/ .
The website claims to be the official website of the district and yet gives outdated information.
Have a look at the Tourism page and then Accessibility: where under Airways it says, and we quote
“Airways: Belgaum airport near sambra has been not operational. Nearest airport is Hubli airport which is about 100 Km from belgaum.”
The Belgaum-Mumbai flights were started on January 10, 2011 by Kingfisher and from then are flying daily.
But the official website says airport is not operational.
The site is used as a ready reckoner by many a tech savy residents all over the world and hence such a mismanagement is certainly shocking.
Or is it that they want to promote Hubli here as well.
The left hand does not know what the right hand is upto. Looks like standard issue bureaucratic BS. I'm pretty sure the site will not be updated until someone decides to make some money by upgrading the site. Pathetic design too. I wonder, with so many resources available locally in Belgaum, why can't the district administration get a good looking website made?
It high time,that somebody sends a reminder/Alert to the In-charge of this web site.
