The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) plans to set up a national level training institution in jungle warfare for police officers and the constabulary and for the same it has sought 400 cares of land in Kahanapur.

There are five battalions of the CRPF in the State and they add up to the strength of the Karnataka State Reserve Police.

Government would tentatively consider the CRPF’s request in the backdrop of the threat from naxalites which has spread to many districts now in the state.

  1. I some how feel this was no required, i mean atleast in Khanapur!!! It provides the very essential green cover for Bgm. They already have one station near Macche. It could ve been better if they wud zeroed on on some other place….??? Naxals danger in Bgm — I dont think so!!!

    • One at Macche is a Unit (state has 5 of them), here they are asking for training facility, well, they won't chop down trees or reduce green cover as you fear, they actually need that green cover for jungle warfare training, so instead it would be proctected and also poachers and illegal wood loggers would fear from doing it nearing to the training facility… Belgaum has no Naxal danger, but it will be a facility of training for rest of India. :p Think Big, Think Positive !!!
