DC Jayram takes to task RTO and Police for non implementation of Auto Meters

It was a regular meeting of the RTA, where all the concerned departments such as the Police, RTO, NWKRTC and others participate.

In the meeting Deputy Commissioner N Jayram slammed the RTO and police for their utter failure towards the enforcement of meters to auto in Belagavi city limits.

DC further said there are 998 auto rickshaws running without permit in Belagavi city and no one is bothered about it.

In a harsh tone, DC gave a new deadline of one month which is last deadline for the RTO and police department to seize illegal autos and autos which are not charging as per the fares fixed by the Govt.

The image of the city has been tarnished as all the visitors who come to the city have to face this humongous task of negotiation with the auto drivers which in this era seems very unrealistic.

We have heard about the Auto drivers, now they must first comply and charge as per the prescribed fare, enough is enough, he said.

The NWKRTC officials complained that there is a rule that no autos will stop in the 500 mtrs distance of bus stops, but here the bus stops have become autos stands.

At the same time DC asked why NWKRTC was not allowing students with pass to use the JNNuRM and midi buses, to which the later replied as it is instruction from Hubballi. The DC spoke to the director of NWKRTC and asked him that students and commuters with pass must be allowed in those buses as well.

Can we have coverage of pathetic water / power supply….. smart city with best infrastructure award should be given to Belgaum.?

  2. The cops are busy catching people without a helmet this day near the train station. Even if they show 10 percent effort, the auto menace shall end. But then police being police, they believe in MERI MARJEE!!
