It’s mid July and normally this time of the year Belagavi would have seen some very heavy showers, but this year the Rain god is not so happy it seems.

The statistics of the Indian Meteorological department show that there is deficient rainfall to the tune of 22%. The delay of monsoon and deficiency of rain has become a major cause of worry among the farmers of the district.
The normal range of the monsoon from June 1, is 234 mm while this we have received only 182. This is Belagavi district wise data. There could be few taluka places where the rainfall has been negligible.

The met department predicts light to moderate rainfall in the coming couple of days, which is a sign of relief but less rainfall means worries for all farmers, citizens.

Rakaskop, from where the city gets its drinking water is still not full and it needs about 3.5 feet to be full to capacity.

Good information Uday. Even I don’t feel it is the rainy season in Belgaum as the rains are comparatively less this time. Please can you get the statistics of the Hidkal Dam. Is it full ? Or still to be.
