The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has reorganized the regional authorities of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) by merging smaller regional authorities with relatively bigger ones across the country.
The Belagavi office as promised by Smt Nirmala Sitaram, then Hon’ble Union Minister for Corporate Affairs had promised to open a Director General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT ) office in Belagavi in August 2016 and same was opened in April 2017 at Ground Floor, Belagavi permanent exhibition complex Auto Nagar, Kanbargi Belagavi.
Now however only a board remains there as the office has been shifted to Bengaluru after the reorganization of the smaller regional authorities.
DGFT is responsible for implementing the Foreign Trade Policy or Exim Policy with the main objective of promoting Indian exports. Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) organization is an attached office of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and is headed by Director General of Foreign Trade.
