Deputy Commissioner Belagavi Nitesh Patil speaking at the preliminary meeting for Ganesh Festivities in the town said Single window arrangements will be made for seeking permission as per the Court and Govt guidelines issued from time to time.
This year Ganeshotsav will be held from August 31 to September 9 across Belagavi city and district. On this occasion, the Ganeshotsav Mandals should cooperate to celebrate the festival in a peaceful and cheerful manner so that no untoward incident takes place, added DC Patil.
No DJ use allowed; Single window system to grant necessary permissions:
DJ is not allowed during the festival, But for the time being the use of “sound” amplifiers emitting a fixed amount of sound is allowed. Loudspeaker usage will be permitted from 6 am to 10 pm as per regulations. Permission will be given by the jurisdiction of the respective police station through the Single window system.
DC Nitesh Patil said that the officials of all the departments including Police, Hescom, Pollution Control Board and Corporation will be available in one place and will give necessary permission.
The government and the Supreme Court have issued several orders and guidelines on various issues including DJ, use of loudspeakers, and use of POP idols.
According to the guidelines of the court and the government, provisions will be made for the celebration of the festival.
Installation of POP idols is not permitted, therefore, DC Nitesh Patil requested that idols should be of mud, and clay which are environmentally friendly. He said that the meeting was held in advance so that the information reaches the makers of POP Ganesha idols in advance.
The DC directed the officials of the Corporation to take immediate action to close the potholes. He said to call a meeting to coordinate with the Cantonment Board and Forest Department to provide necessary facilities during the festival.
Considering the seriousness of recent air, noise, and water pollution, the court and the government are taking strict measures to prevent pollution. So he requested everyone to cooperate.
Meetings will also be held at the police station level to facilitate the proper celebration of Ganeshotsav. Dr. Boralingaiah said that the local authorities should participate and give suggestions.
Precautions should be taken to avoid any mishap. In this regard, he suggested that the Mandals should take all kinds of safety measures.
More than 378 Sarvajanik Ganesh Idols are installed in the city.
Vikas Kalghatgi said that after a detailed discussion with the presidents and office bearers of all the Mandals of the city, another round of meetings will be held with the district administration. He also demanded that more Ganesha immersion ponds should be provided. He appealed for the relocation of the optical fiber network wires that were obstructing the procession.
