Karnatak Law Society’s, Gogte Institute of Technology, MBA conducted a special talk session by Dr. Harish Hande founder & Chairman, SELCO a Ramon Magsaysay Awardee.
In his insightful speech he said that academic laurels should be backed by hands on experience, meager possessing degree is not a tool to sustain in the competitive world. Rural India is the potential hub & avenue to excel at the world at large. He urged the students to become solution providers & creators. He further quoted several experiential anecdotes from his entrepreneurial journey. Indigenous problems should be tackled with Indigenous way. He shared his dream amongst the students to make India a solution provider to the seekers from across the world. He insisted upon the students to strive for social sustainability.
Harish Hande is an Indian social entrepreneur, who co-founded SELCO (Solar Lighting Company) India in 1995. He was awarded with the Ramon Magsaysay Award for 2011 for “his pragmatic efforts to put solar power technology in the hands of the poor, through his social enterprise SELCO India.
