Empower with Elegance: Dr Anupama Joshi

Being crowned as Miss Belagavi in 1998, today she would have been in the fashion industry endorsing some brand or walking the red carpet as a chief guest, cutting ribbons at inauguration ceremonies or would have been in the glamour world. But some people write their own destiny and Dr. Anupama Joshi is one among them.

Being born in a highly educated family with her parents having served in the field of education for over 40 years, Anupama was very bright and active right from her childhood. She was awarded with Rotary Youth Leadership Award in 1997 (MISS RYLA) followed by WINTER QUEEN at All India Youth Festival – Winter Carnival, Manali (HP) in 1997. Then came the big title of “MISS BELGAUM” in 1998. She was just unstoppable. She was adjudged the BEST GIRL of Gogte College of Commerce in 2001. Soon after graduation, she got married to Dr Suraj Joshi. Marriage did not put an end to her education nor her enthusiasm. She completed her MBA and was also crowned MRS BELGAUM in 2003. In 2008 she appeared on the television as a contestant of ETV Marathi reality show SUPER WOMAN. Putting behind a total of 400 contestants, she bagged the 1st runners up title. She was selected as a team member for the Rotary Group Study Exchange 2009, to represent India at Perth (Australia).

Speaking about art, Anupama has been a theatre artist and an active member of Natyankur Belagavi since childhood. Her lead role as CHAMPA in Shri Vijay Tendulkar’s Marathi play “SHKHARAM BINDER”, was critically acclaimed. She has also enacted the male lead in “Akhercha Sawal” written by Shri Vasant Kanatker.

She started her teaching career in 2006 from VTU MBA department. She is also a trained Beautician, Cosmetologist, Bharatnatyam dancer and Harmonium player. In 2016, Anupama was awarded Ph.D from Rani Channamma University. Her thesis titled, “ECOTOURISM IN KARNATAKA – MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND POLICIES”, has been approved for publication. She is a freelance Corporate Trainer and has conducted a number of motivational, personality development, time management, skill development, problem solving and creative thinking training programs for companies like TCS Mumbai, Lokmanya Multi Purpose Co-op Credit Society Ltd, RICM Bangalore and more.

Everything went on well just like a neatly scripted destiny. With so much of knowledge, talent and experience, so many achievements, Anupama thought why just restrict the growth to herself, why just build my own self and why not many others? Being an empowered woman herself, she decided to help other women become self reliant and empowered. With this vision she founded UTSAV SAKHI, a platform to empower women in 2006. Utsav Sakhi undertakes training program for women and encourages them in becoming entrepreneurs.

UTSAV SAKHI annually organizes its landmark events, FEMME FIESTA – celebrating womanhood and CHILDS WORLD around children’s day. Anupama single handily organizes these events. In 12 years, Femme Fiesta has carved its own identity in the world of events. It is looked up to as one of the most professionally organized events and has become one of the most awaited events in Belagavi. It’s this time of the year that ladies in Belgaum look forward to. It’s not just an event; it’s a celebration of womanhood.

Femme Fiesta has given a wonderful platform to ladies to display their products, services, art, talent and innovation. Women from different fields are felicitated at the event for their achievements and contributions. There are competitions, loads of games, lots of fun, dance, and entertainment. Isn’t that all women love under one roof? Femme Fiesta is a complete women’s world.

The 13th season of Femme Fiesta will be held on Sunday, 2nd Feb 2020 at Ramnath Mangal Karyalaya, opp Big Bazaar, Belagavi. Entry for the event is only for ladies, college girls and kids.
