The memorial is built on the lines of Aikya Mantap of Basavanna in Kudalasangama. The Government along with the Kudalasangam Development Board spent around Rs.5.8 crores to develop this memorial where Gangambika, wife of 12th century reformer Basaveshwara, is said to have breathed her last at the spot, at which a temple existed in a dilapidated condition for years. The height of the memorial from river base is 64 feet.
