Gen J J Singh appeals for specialized health care for Arunachal at JNMC convocation

Gen J J Singh, Governor Arunachal Pradesh has called on Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College to extend specialized health care services to people of Arunachal. He suggested that cardiologists come to Arunachal Pradesh and carry out free camps.jnmc

The Governor said this during the annual convocation of the Institution in which 125 students received their graduation certificates.

Responding to the request of the Governor, Chancellor KLE University Prashakar Kore agreed to conduct free camps in the State. Touched by the appeal of Gen Singh, Kore further informed that they are ready to provide free heart surgeries for poor patients of the Arunachal Pradesh and any serious heart case of the State may be referred in the institution.

Attending as the chief guest of the annual convocation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under KLE University, Gen Singh urged upon the doctors to come to Arunachal Pradesh and conduct free health camps. Pointing that there is acute shortage of doctors in rural areas, he called upon the young doctors to devote some years of their professional lives to work in rural areas.

Governor further said that there is an acute shortage of doctors in rural areas. He urged young doctors of the country to devote some years of their professional lives to working in rural areas by responding positively to the call of the Government to take up rural postings. Undoubtedly, all of you have certain career goals which are important. At the same time you also have social responsibilities and a duty towards nation building, he said. By serving in rural areas not only would you be doing good work for the nation, but the stint will be a valuable addition to your professional experience. It would also be an opportunity to get to know your country more closely, he stressed. Never missing an opportunity to plead for denizens of the State, he offered open invitation to any specialized medical practitioner to Arunachal Pradesh, whom he said would be treated like a State Guest if they come for social service.

mlirc1Earlier, in the day, Gen Singh, who is also an Honorary Colonel of the Maratha Light Infantry, visited its centre, which is located at Belgaum. He was given ceremonial guard on his arrival at the regimental centre. As tradition, Gen Singh paid homage to martyrs. The former chief of Indian Army donated twenty medals, which were awarded to him during his illustrated service in army. He also donated the golden trophy won for golf in Srinagar to the centre.

  1. I wish if our policticans learn from Gen J J Singh (Retd) though he is the governer their , but still have urge to do something for the people of Arunachal Pradesh , (A far end north east part of India)
