Help in making Belgaum green

Sep 17, 2010 by Editor 7 Comments

It is ironic that Belgaum, the most beautiful city earlier known as Venugram is now losing its green cover, thanks to global warming and various other aspects for which only WE are responsible.

Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal ( Chatrapati road, Hindu Nagar ) has taken an initiative to make a difference to the cities green cover. The young and dynamic members of this Mandal have come with a nobel cause of planting trees. This year they plan to plant 500 trees around Hindu Nagar on Spetember 18, 2010. Besides planting saplings, members are contributing in raising funds and spreading awareness on global warming and preserving nature.

Belgaum city is loosing its greeny image. It is obvious with any developing city. Its a great effort though to plant trees and enhance green.

Belgaum is not loosing its green cover due to global warming but because of horizontal expansion of the city, highways, road-widening and mainly due to indifferent attitude and "stoic silence" of the Belgaumites towards their own problems…..vvijju
