Leopard attacks man near Belgaum

chikale Chirate-10 chikale Chirate-8With no power in the village of Chikhale in Khanapur Taluk, 55 year old Vasudev Lakshman Pawar woke up to the barking of his dog early morning on Sunday. As soon as he opened the door a leopard entered his house and tried to attack his daughter in law and seeing this Vasudev kicked the leopard and he went towards the daughter in law and her baby. The leopard again tried to attack and this time around the man bravely kicked the leopard again and asked the others to leave the home and grabbed the leopard and then somehow kicked it again and came out of his house and locked the leopard in his house.

He got some injuries and is being treated in the civil hospital. The forest officers were informed and as they did not have the equipment and cage specialists were called in from Dandeli and Mysore who will catch the leopard in the cage on Monday and leave it in the deep jungle officials said. Jamboti forest in the vicinity is said to have almost 50 leopards.
Update: The leopard was caught and caged and then let off deep inside the Bhimgad forest reserve this morning.
