LPG gas line, electric wires, sewage pipes is a well-cooked recipe for future disasters

The Smart City work in Belagavi seems to be in a hurry to be completed throwing away all norms for safety and citizens’ precautions.

The contractor and the workforce has no idea of any guidelines. They just dig the place lay cables, pipes.

The image Near Karnataka bank Mahantesh Nagar is just one live example of the smart cabling done.

LPG gas line, electric wires, sewage pipesAt so many places the water lines and sewage pipes are damaged and patched up. A deadly crisscrossing of the PNG gas line, electric wires and sewage pipes is a well-cocked recipe for future disasters.

Anybody digging up for water pipeline repair or electric wiretapping are likely to puncture any of these pipes and a potential case to blow up a gas pipeline or electric lines.

Many times earlier as well the HESCOM cables have been damaged while digging and now we also have the gas pipes to it.

The safest way to handle this a clean and dedicated cemented conduits carrying all these pipelines with openings at regular intervals for maintenance. When will our folks understand safety and human life value?

SMART CITY is a concept, well sold by the political parties and accepted by citizens
First of all any such project would be successful if and only if the town planning for that city is perfect
There is no space to run these underground services separately
Our streets & main roads are very narrow
With all this flaws we still want a SMART city

You will see only this kind of rubbish all around

    God save our city

Is there anyone smart while Belgavi is going through the process of becoming a Smart city? People are getting frustrated with the lousy work being done in our beloved city. Citizen should and must come together and demand that all the management team to be responsible for the project that is being done with safety regulations in their mind. Stop them from stealing taxpayers money to enrich their pocketbooks. Comments made here ever get to the proper authorities ?

IMHO I feel profit is the number one goal for projects done in this “smart” city. To explain in simple terms. . .
RS 5000 allocated to paving and tarring of roads.
RS 2500 only used by buying cheap material, cheap labour, cheap/no planning etc. Remaining 2500 distributed as pocket money. One just needs to look at most, if not all, the work done so far. That bridge/flyover being the best example. Look at the paint job. Kids could’ve painted straighter lines with equal spacing ffs. And how many defects have been reported so far???
    🤦‍♂️
    God help us all.

First of all I don’t see any technical person during the execution of work. The authority should make clear the availability of workers, machineries, technical staff ,etc. before commencing the work.
We should condemn and stop such type of work to proceed further, which will be dangerous in future. Any incidence in future, the contractor/officials will nowhere be punished or found guilty as the contract is drafted in such a way and the officials records/document protect them.
MY POINT IN ELABORATING IS THAT WHEN YOU FIND THE WRONG DOING STOP IT AND MAKE HIM REDO THE WORK WITH PROPER PROCRDURE. IF EVERYONE DOES SO THEN THE CONTRACTOR HIMSELF WILL FOLLOW THE SPECIFICATION.

Really neglected safety. No provisions or precautions taken for future maintenance in case of puncture. Tax money is wasted in the name of smart City

Good that you are invested so much of your time to report this. We will send RTI and ask for drawings. Also we will write to various authorities.

PLs engage appropriate officials. Breakage of gas pipes is an explosion risk. Such bad infrastructure. Why push towards gas pipes when they cant take care of safety basics!

The corrupts are blowing out infrastructure and economic development. Even after seven decades of independence villages & small cities are wheeling out backwards leaving the country severely hurt.
