Dinesh Keluskar reporter of Marathi Channel IBN Lokmat was detained by the Police today from Tilak Chowk while he was taking live reactions of the people.
Live on camera he was detained by the police as one constable took away the mike and detained him and stopped the live program being aired. He was later released.
The Journalist was here reporting live from Belgaum taking reactions of the Marathi speaking public on the inauguration of the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha.
This is all about today’s “Democracy”. This is what Govt is doing from past 56 years in the name of Law & Order. And we still proudly call us ‘Citizen of Worlds largest democracy. Interestingly, this incident happens when Honorable President of the nation inaugurating state secretariat building (The Temple of Democracy).
Was it necessary for Dinesh K to indulge in such reporting and dividing belgaumites on the name of langauge during this occassion? it is directly spreading or initiating trouble in the city.
Police did a right job by stoping the interview at rigth time.
And why just interview marathis during this time he could have interviewed kannadigas also.
All Belgaumites will be happy with this develpment. No need to create enimity between kannadiagas and marathis in belgaum.

I am proud Maratha and citizen of Belgaum des days i use to involve myself in protest against Karnataka govt and people but from past 2 yrs by looking development work in city and state in future i’ll never involve in such protest.

I am a frequent visitor to Belgaum. When I had visited Belgaum in 2011 March, I never faced any problem and I could get information in Marathi itself. Kannad and Marathi were merged quite well at that time and Hindi was not required.
Now when I visited Belgaum in last month, evevn the bus conductor hesited to answer in Marathi and spoke in Hindi. Now, my dear friends in Belgaum, this is a sign of danger. Earlier, only Marathi people in Maharashtra border used to travel in and out of Belgaum and used to work there. Both Kannada and Marathi people are cool and they generally do not trouble others. Now with increase in use of Hindi, there will be increase in threat of Biharis and UP people in Belgaum. We are already facing their horrific behaviour in Pune and Mumbai,
