New rules for School buses

school-bus-largeThe Karnataka transport department has laid down new rules and guidelines for the school buses. This will ensure safety of the children.

The rules will come into force from 01-05-2013.

A school cab cannot have maximum capacity of 12+1 and the vehicle should have a valid permit.

No vehicle can be used as a transport vehicle for transporting school children without a valid permit.

There will be a safety committee in each school which should consist of parents, teachers, transporters.

Speed governor fitted with max speed of 40 Kmph.

Age of the vehicle should not be more than 15 years

Body of the school cab shall be Yellow color with a horizontal stripe in green with the words “School cab” mentioned on all four sides

If the age of the children is less than 12, the number of children carried shall not exceed one and half times the capacity

No seating arrangement over LPG tank

No tinted glass

Driver of the cab will wear uniform with his name plate

No bags can be stored on roof tops or hanging outside

Complete list of children with their entire details like embarkation/disembarkation must be maintained with the school

Top of the vehicle should be hard no canvas top are allowed.
