Ola, the first taxi aggregator to operate in Belagavi, hiked the minimum fare by 63% for mini’s (small cars), making its fares a costly affair.
The minimum fare has been hiked from Rs 49 for 2km to Rs. 80 for first 4 kms and Rs.10 per km later. Also there is the Re.1/min as ride time charges after the first 5 mins make this service very uncompetitive for shorter distances.
The Auto Fare is Rs.25 for 1.9 kms and then Rs.10/km, but hardly any autos charge as per meter.
In the last couple of months Ola was a good substitute for the Autos but now with minimum being Rs.80 its is a costly affair as the entire city itself would get almost covered in 4 kms straight.
Also about 30 cabs were functioning but after the attack by Auto drivers on the Ola cabs and the statement made by the Commissioner of police that he would see seize any Cabs running on the road currently we see only 3-5 cabs on live on the App.
If one is traveling beyond 4 kms this service is affordable to an extent.
