President Pranab Mukherjee’s flying visit to Belgaum

presidentPresident Pranab Mukherjee, was at Sambra airport for a change-over on Tuesday. He arrived here from Bangalore by an IAF airplane at 10.45 a.m. and took off in a helicopter after five minutes to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sainik School in Bijapur. After attending the function at Bijapur, he returned to Belgaum at 2.15 p.m. and boarded the airplane for Chennai.

    Can you tell me the Model of the IAF Aircraft posted in connection with the visit of the president Pranab Mukherjee to Belgaum. I am asking you this question because the Air craft has a jet engine and the Aircraft seems to be quite big. Another thing is that whether the renovation of Belgaum Airport which was posted in your previous blog completed ,which has facilitated the landing of this big Aircraft?

The Air craft shown is Boeing 737 executive jet type, based in Hindon (Delhi) VIP communication squadron. the present runway does support landing of 737 jets, the fencing wall of newly occupied land for airport expansion is in progress the runway will be extended towards western direction by 1500 mtrs in next two years , the current apron is capable of not accommodating larger aircraft
