The South Western Railway has taken up the survey for proposed line doubling between Londa and Miraj railway stations. The work began in August and completed within six months. A detailed project report is currently being made. The surveyors from a team were here in Belagavi to survey the same. The work was commenced from Londa.
As of now the work on the Kapileshwar railway gate is in progress and after its completion the work on Old PB road would be taken up. Also over bridges at 1st gate and 2nd gate have got govt approval but surprisingly sources have told that the state govt has not asked for a over bridge at 3rd gate as of now. As per the railways new policy the railway crossings within city limits will have to have over bridges built by 2019.
In the Railway budget presented by Suresh Prabhu last year Rs.4670 crores have been allocated for doubling of Pune-Miraj-Londa rail route.
