Umesh Kalghatgi honored

On the occasion of 7th Death Anniversary of Late Shri B. R. Mutagi, the award constituted by the Mutagi family was awarded to well known swimming coach from Belgaum Mr. Umesh Kalghatgi at the hands Shri Shankargouda Patil (Chairman of Industrial and Forest Board, Government of Karnataka). He has awarded this for his dedicated and yeomen services rendered towards upliftment and betterment of downtrodden society since last 15 years. 

Many of his disabled swimmers have made our nation proud by winning over 40 medals at the International Swimming Competitions apart from hundreds of medals at the National Competitions. To name a few Raghavengdra Anavekar (Ekalavya Awardee), Rajesh Shinde (English Channel swimmer & Ekalavya Awardee ) Moin Junnedi ( Wonder Boy of India ), Atish Jadhav (Gold medal winner at the special Olympics, Athens, Greece) Umesh khade, etc. During this occasion Rtd. District Judge Shri Jinadutta Desai, Shri J. N. Metgud, Shri S. M. Sanadi, Shri Mihir Potdar, Shri S. U. Jamadar (Coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra) and others were present.DSC 0434

Umesh has played a very vital role in improving and upgrading the standard of Rotary Corporation Sports Academy, Goaves, Belgaum. Every year in the month of February hundreds of disabled children like Physically Handicapped, Mentally Retarded, Blind, Deaf and Dumb, Orphans, and poor are provided free swimming training apart from transportation, kit, diet and health checkup through Swimmers’ Club Belgaum, Aquarius Swim Club Belgaum and Rotary Corporation Sports Academy.

The Mutagi family honors the achievers in the different fields with social concern every year, by giving an award in the name of Late B RMutagi, a President’s award winner teacher.
