156.10 acres of Vaccine depot is a heritage asset for Belgaum and also works as lungs for the city but people still dont understand the importance of this GREEN ZONE in the center of the city.

Large scale boozing, smoking and above all throwing Construction waste there itslef is causing a nuisance and even after repeated complaints no one is interested in saving this heritage. It is also suggested that the Heritage Park be developed on the lines of ‘Delhi Haat’, where all through the year, craftsman and artisans from the district showcase their skilled worksmanship (in the 64 old buildings already existing in Vaccine Depot). This will be of immense interest to tourists who visit the Heritage Park to understand Belgaum and Karnataka better. The plan of the Indoor stadium has been now shifted from here but this nuisance has to be stopped.IMG_5117

Twenty years from now, the people of Belgaum will yearn for some space free of smoke, dust and concrete structures.

Will we have collectively destroyed Vaccine Depot by then – by inaction, silence, fear ?

A few citizens now have decided to rename the Vaccine depot to Boozers depot.

AAB has being raising this issue for more than once.

  1. I left Belgaum almost fifty years back, but still visit the city atleast once a year. Vaccine Depot area is my fondest place of visit where I spent my childhood. If the authorities allow such a rich heritage place and greenery to vanish, nothing can be more sad than this.
What the local people are doing? This cold indifference of the people will destroy the city!
Wake up my dear Belgaumites, for a worthy cause.
