On similar lines of the Siddhagiri Gramjivan Museum (Kaneri Math) at Kaneri near Kolhapur, Vaccine Depot will also have a similar museum as part of the heritage park.

The work on the same has already begun and many idols are almost ready.
The tenders for the same have now been floated by BUDA. Two seprate Tenders have been floated:

Providing and fixing of artistic cement sculpture depicting, Rural Market, goldsmith, flower seller, temple, village panchayat, etc., for the Grameen Bharat Culture at Vaccine Depot, Belgaum. The Tender amounts to Rs.2428800.00

The second tender is for Rs.2466800.35 and that is for providing and fixing of artistic cement sculpture depicting farmer, village head, open well seen, pottery maker, smithy, etc., for the Grameen Bharat Culture at Vaccine Depot, Belgaum.

The tenders would be opened on 12/12/2012.

This is how it will look after completion

VD2The animals would be of 2.5 feet to 3.5 feet and about 20 such animal sculptures would be installed. Realistic looking men sculptures of 5.5 to 6.5 feet would be installed which would be about 120 in number. Women and children sculptures would be about 40 each in number.
This will also have houses which are built in the villages like the farmers house, potter’s house etc.
In all it would a place to see the Grameen jeevan with the wells, animals and would be a treat for Belgaumites.

The work on the same is on and sources around Vaccine Depot said it would be ready by New year.

  1. I have to shake the hand of the genius who came up with this HALF BAKED IDEA. First of all, the Grameen Bharat Culture museum is out of place in the former Vaccine Institute. This effort will do no good to maintain the beauty of the Vaccine Institute. Rather, it will create unnecessry traffic, noise pollution, lots of people visiting, hawkers of all kind and unmanageable levels of garbage. The result will be-the place goes from BAD to WORSE.

    • OH YES, forgot to add-an utter waste of ~ Rs. 5 Crore. Could be better spent on providing clean drinking water, sanitation systems (drainage systems), roads, garbage collection, better waste disposal systems, recycling etc.

  2. It is sad that Belgaumites are for such a kind of a park which is full of statues of animals and farmers having no relation to the people of Belgaum. Why cant we appreciate the existing greenery, the ancient trees, the birds which come everyday to the Vaccine Depot? People wake up and realize what we are losing by accepting such mediocre ideas!
